As we celebrate ADF’s 50th anniversary, we, at HOPE International Development Agency (Canada), are filled with immense gratitude and pride for our invaluable partnership over the years. ADF has strengthened us in many ways, and our understanding of working with Indigenous Peoples (IPs) has been profoundly shaped by ADF’s deep knowledge and experience. You have taught us the importance of cultural sensitivity, self-governance of indigenous lands, and the self-reliance of IPs, especially through initiatives like Pamulaan. Your credibility in the Philippines and deep connections with IPs were crucial in securing funding from Global Affairs Canada for the Land & Livelihoods Project, now benefiting 47 communities across the country. I confidently say that our collaboration with ADF has been a cornerstone of our success and growth.

The essence of our partnership lies in collaboration, trust, and shared goals. ADF’s dedication to social development and community empowerment has inspired us to strive for excellence. Your commitment to making a difference has motivated our team to aim higher and achieve greater impact.

Our collaboration has always been driven by a shared vision of sustainable, meaningful change. The Education for All campaign, where we worked together to provide quality education to children in remote areas, exemplifies our commitment to empowering the next generation. The success stories of students who have excelled academically and pursued higher education and professional careers are a testament to the power of our partnership.

We cannot forget the roots of our partnership, which trace back to Cory Aquino’s presidency in 1988. Introduced by Howard Dee, David McKenzie was the first foreign visitor to meet her, marking the beginning of our strong collaboration. David and Maria Hulme’s visit to the Philippines to meet with NGOs, including ADF, led to numerous projects in Cebu City, Iloilo, and Negros, all supported by the Canadian International Development Agency. Howard Dee’s vision and leadership were crucial in fostering a strong bond between our organizations.

As we celebrate this golden milestone, we extend my heartfelt congratulations to everyone at ADF. Your vision, passion, and hard work have made a profound difference in countless lives. It is an honor to be part of this journey with you. We look forward to celebrating this milestone together and to many more years of fruitful collaboration.
