Through the years, Assisi Development Foundation (ADF) has been a valuable partner of the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) and various Indigenous Cultural Communities/Indigenous Peoples (ICCs/IPs) across the country. Sharing a vision of a united nation that embraces diversity, inclusivity, and equality, we have worked together to recognize, promote, and protect the rights and welfare of ICCs/IPs.
A key milestone in this collaboration was the Memorandum of Agreement signed by ADF, NCIP, and the Ati Indigenous Cultural Community of Boracay Island on February 4, 2013. This agreement empowered the Ati community and reinforced their rights.
ADF’s assistance has been instrumental in developing and implementing the Ancestral Domain Sustainable Development and Protection Plan (ADSDPP) for the Ati ICCs. More importantly, it strengthened their recognition as rightful landowners and stewards. ADF has also played a critical role in improving socio-economic conditions and preserving cultural heritage.
Specifically, ADF supported housing projects, facilitated the construction of a heritage center (Bihasin), and provided educational assistance and livelihood programs.
NCIP commends ADF’s programs for ICCs/IPs nationwide. These initiatives foster partnerships for peace and development, promote human security, provide legal support, and ensure culturally appropriate education. They exemplify ADF’s commitment to serving vulnerable and marginalized communities—empowering and transforming them to improve their well-being.
Moreover, NCIP recognizes ADF’s contributions in education, agriculture, resource management, transformative governance, health, livelihood, leadership, networking, coalition building, knowledge management, and spirituality. These efforts not only uplift individuals but also strengthen families and communities.
On ADF’s 50th anniversary, NCIP extends its warmest congratulations. May you continue to innovate and implement culturally sensitive solutions that enhance the well-being of ICCs/IPs. We look forward to more collaborative efforts that create lasting, positive impacts on our communities.
