The partnership between Misereor and the Assisi Development Foundation (ADF) dates back to 2003. It is, by now, a long-lasting partnership.
Over the years, both organizations have shared experiences and overcome challenges, including the global COVID-19 pandemic. Despite the difficulties, ADF demonstrated creativity, innovation, and dedication to ensuring that no one was left behind during this time.
From its inception, ADF has been committed to implementing the Indigenous Rights Act of 1997, focusing on the poorest and most marginalized communities in the Philippines. At Misereor, we believe education plays a crucial role in improving living conditions. However, ADF goes beyond education by preserving indigenous knowledge and culture, fostering self-confidence and pride in ancestral heritage among indigenous communities.
What began as a modest cooperation more than twenty years ago has expanded with each project. From the outset, we at Misereor have been deeply impressed by ADF’s commitment to upholding the dignity of indigenous children, youth, and entire communities—empowering them to see themselves as valuable members of society. By training teachers and educators in Indigenous Peoples Education, ADF has significantly contributed to its integration within the educational system. Additionally, involving families and caregivers in this process remains a vital pillar of ADF’s work.
