As a former Assisi scholar and now a partner in implementing Assisi Development Foundation Inc. (ADFI) programs at the Apostolic Vicariate of Tabuk (AVT), I am deeply grateful for this remarkable institution. My journey reminds me of the words of St. Francis of Assisi: “You should never praise anyone until you see how he turns out in the end.”

ADFI’s scholarship support during its partnership with the International Association for Transformation (IAT) played a crucial role in my education. Today, as AVT’s Social Action Director, I am privileged to collaborate with ADFI on scholarship programs, the Land and Livelihood Project, and the Hapag-Asa Integrated Feeding Program across several barangays in Kalinga and Apayao. ADFI’s unwavering commitment to assisting Indigenous communities nationwide is truly commendable.

As a young mission territory, AVT recognizes poverty eradication as a vital challenge. Guided by Christ’s commandment to love God and neighbor, we are committed to this mission. Our partnership with ADFI has been instrumental in helping us reach people living in poverty and vulnerable situations.

Through the Indigenous Peoples Education Program (IPEd), we have provided underprivileged students with access to education. While some are still studying, many have graduated and found employment—I am proud to be one of them.

ADFI’s livelihood programs also benefit Indigenous communities in Conner, Apayao, and the municipalities of Pasil and Balbalan in Kalinga. Families participating in the Land and Livelihood Project now generate income to sustain their daily needs and support their children’s education.

Meanwhile, the ongoing Hapag-Asa Integrated Feeding Program plays a vital role in addressing malnutrition and fulfilling the Christian community’s prayer: “Give us this day our daily bread.” These three programs, in partnership with ADFI, ensure that the Church remains a living, vibrant force in our communities.

As ADFI celebrates its 50th anniversary, I extend my warmest congratulations to its dedicated team. This milestone stands as a testament to their relentless efforts in uplifting and empowering marginalized communities.

The Apostolic Vicariate of Tabuk, under the leadership of Most Rev. Prudencio P. Andaya Jr., CICM, DD, is grateful for this partnership and looks forward to continuing our shared mission to combat poverty and support Indigenous communities.

With the guidance of our patron, St. Francis of Assisi, may we be blessed with the strength and wisdom to serve as instruments of peace and progress for those in need.
