Annamarie Lasola of Barangay Tawagan Sur in Pagadian City, Zamboanga Del Sur has witnessed the positive impact of the Hapag-Asa Integrated Feeding Program on her family.
Her twin children, Renzel and RenZet, born on August 23, 2019, were four years old when the program began. At the time, both children had significantly low height and weight for their age and often appeared lethargic. They struggled with basic school activities, such as identifying colors and engaging in classroom tasks.
Before the program, the twins exhibited contrasting personalities—Renzel was introverted, while RenZet was extroverted. Their physical weakness, combined with Renzel’s shy nature, made social interactions difficult.
Annamarie, who joined the Hapag-Asa Feeding Program to address her children’s health concerns, receives Mannapack as part of the program’s support. Although she and her family do not prepare the meals themselves, barangay personnel, including the staff and Barangay Captain, handle the cooking and delivery to households with undernourished children. The barangay uses its vehicle and funds to purchase the necessary ingredients, ensuring that Renzel and RenZet receive their meals consistently and on time.
The Hapag-Asa Feeding Program has significantly improved the twins’ health. Once picky eaters, they now consume their meals with enthusiasm. The regular intake of Mannapack has increased their energy levels, improved their overall health, and resulted in noticeable weight gain. Financially, the program has alleviated the burden of providing nutritious meals for the children.
The twins have also made remarkable progress in their academic performance. They are now more active and engaged in class, a noticeable improvement from their previous lethargy. Consistent nutrition from the Mannapack has played an essential role in this positive change.
The program has not only provided vital nutrition for the children but also reduced some of the financial pressure on Annamarie’s family. Its success in their community highlights the importance of continued support and cooperation among all stakeholders.
